We have housed all necessary facilities under one roof. All possible hardware, software and equipment required for the effective conduct of the programs is made available to students.
The computing infrastructure includes a combination of high-end PCs with various peripherals such as 21 Cintiq 21.3” tablets, scanners, plotters and printers, etc. The students are provided with the most advanced software tools and high level of technical support for computer visualization, and advanced computer graphics. All computing equipment is linked by high-speed network to facilitate access across the campus. The entire DYPDC campus and hostel blocks are provided with wi-fi connectivity. The campus has a dedicated 4 MBPS leased line.
In the modelshop and workshop, students and faculty members come together to create experimental prototypes. They are assisted by experienced model making staff. The students combine high-tech digital modeling with traditional craft processes in the Model Shop.
Students have access to a Rapid Prototyping facility in order to convert their concepts and ideas into physical plastic and metal prototypes to test for form, fit and function. In addition DYPDC has extensive workshop and model making facilities.
The wood workshop has all the essential tools and machines needed to enable students to fabricate their design projects. The workshop is equipped with machines like table saw, belt and disc Sander, universal wood working machine, basic router, jig saw machine, bench grinder and band saw
Metal & Plastic Workshop
This workshop is equally equipped with a range of essential machines and hand tools. The operations that are possible through this diverse equipment is forming, fabricating and assembling design projects. The machines available are bench grinder, mechanical hacksaw, treadle shear, welding machine, fly press, hand shear, milling machine, lathe machine, bench drill machine and buffing machine. Besides these machines there are numerous power tools, and hand tools.
Model Making Shop
DYPDC has one of the most advanced model making facility wherein model making using a variety of material is possible. Facilities for vacuum – thermoforming, mold making and composite lay up, painting and other processes common in the creation of design models and prototypes are available. DYPDC has a specially developed clay modeling facility with all necessary equipment and tools.
Rapid Prototyping Machine
DYPDC has Alaris 30, 3-D Printer system from Objet. This compact machine uses PolyJet Photopolymer Jetting to produce 600 x 600 dpi objects up to 11.5 x 7.7 x 5.9 inches in size. The printer has the ability to manufacture small moving elements and elements as thin as 0.0011 inches. Many small parts can be printed simultaneously, and finished models leave the printer fully cured and hardened by UV light.
CNC Milling Machine
The Roland MDX-540 SRP, 4-axis CNC milling machine at DYPDC is one of the fastest and most accurate RP systems on the market. The machine is capable of quickly producing everything from functional and snap-fit prototypes to light metal molds and custom jewelry. The XYZ-Axis Travel of the machine is 19.68" x 15.74" x 6.10". Powered by a 400W spindle, the MDX-540 mills a wide variety of nonproprietary materials and popular engineered plastics such as ABS, Delrin, and nylon.Compared to additive RP systems, the desktop device produces functional prototypes that are better for structural, thermal, and electrical testing.
